I am a student at Ōtaki College in Ōtaki, NZ. My blog is a place where I will be able to share some of my learning. Please note....some work won't be edited - they are just my first drafts, so there may be some errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas on my posts.

Today we were learning how to be at the right place at the right time and we made comic strips about how to stay on task and not being distracted by tabs open like games or things that would distract you. So this comic would be tips on how to close tabs and stay focused.

Construction site tour
On Tuesday morning all of Waitohu School around 280 students including all teachers
went down to the bridge construction site.
There were 4 main points of the tour explaining the steps working towards the main
goal of completing the bridge construction.

The first meeting point was just next to the underpass
It was the big bridge next to the train tracks. They talked about the R.E.
bricks they used to make the walls of the bridge and they also talked about another thing
that was very surprising.
It turns out they moved somewhere around 700 eels!
Because the bridge making process might have been damaging the environment.

The second point that we walked to was the site with lots and lots of machinery.
At the site Mike showed us that if you are in a digger and if there is a person behind the
digger (or any other truck or vehicle)
the person driving the vehicle can not see you.
So it is very dangerous to approach any type of vehicle on the site if it is moving.

the final point (that I can remember)
was the point at the side of the road where they were making
a pedestrian crossing for people going to college next year.
The pedestrian crossing will be good so that we can cross safely
without getting hit by a car.

After Room 3 had gone to all the meeting points our class walked back to
Waitohu School and had lunch mixed with morning tea.
Overall it was really fun and I learned a lot about the things happening around Otaki.
But after the big walk I was extremely thirsty and tired,
but I think it was worth all the knowledge I gained.
